IVOR GURNEY (1890-1937)
English composer and poet

Gurney is Philip's primary research project for at least the next three years, having recently been awarded funding to undertake this research under the auspices of a PhD, beginning in January 2008. 

Major work undertaken to date:
    Online bibliography (in progress)
    Catalogue of musical works (published December 2006)

    Musical Editions:
    - Ludlow and Teme - critical edition (to be published 2008; recorded in 2007 for Linn Records (James Gilchrist) and Signum Records (Andrew Kennedy); broadcast on Radio 3, August 2007)
    - War Elegy for orchestra. Co-edited with Ian Venables. Recorded by BBCSO, Feb 2006; issued on CD (Dutton Epoch CDLX7172) October 2006; broadcast Radio 3, November 2006. To be published shortly.
    - A Gloucestershire Rhapsody for orchestra (edition in progress)
    - The Trumpet for choir and orchestra.  Performed with piano July 2007. Orchestration in progress for performance July 2008.
    - Various individual songs edited for recording and performance, and string quartet movements edited for performnce.
